Gottfried Michelmann

Gottfried Michelmann (born September 12, 1914 in Berlin ; † January 10, 2011 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German lawyer and bank director.

Career

Michelmann was born in Berlin as the son of the gynecologist Reinhold Michelmann. He attended the French grammar school and completed a banking apprenticeship with the Reichs-Kredit-Gesellschaft after graduating from high school . He then studied law in Berlin . From 1940 he was a trainee lawyer at the Reichsgruppe Banken . The following year he was called up for military service.

In February 1946 he was admitted to the bar in Frankfurt am Main. From 1949 to 1954 he was deputy director of the Hessischer Rundfunk . He went to Deutsche Bank and was director of the Frankfurt branch there from 1956 until his retirement in 1980.

From 1962 to 1995 he was a member of the presidium of the Frankfurt Bar Association and for many years chairman of the admissions department. Later, as Vice President, he looked after the Chamber's international relations.

The Gottfried Michelmann Foundation established by him at Goethe University supports outstanding post- doctoral theses or dissertations in the field of media law . The Gottfried Michelmann Prize for Media Law is awarded every three years .

He was also honorary chairman of the Frankfurter Museumsgesellschaft e. V.
