Gottlieb Conrad Christian Storr (born June 16, 1749 in Stuttgart ; † February 27, 1821 in Tübingen ), also written Gottlieb Konrad Christian Storr , was a German chemist and naturalist .

Life

After completing his studies at the University of Tübingen in 1768 , Storr was appointed Professor of Chemistry and Botany at the Faculty of Medicine of the same university in 1774 . In the following years he wrote various writings on natural history and medical topics. The classification of the raccoon in its own genus with the name Procyon , which he carried out in 1780, goes back to Storr . In 1784 he published an extensive report on his trip to the Swiss Alps in 1781 . Due to health problems, Storr resigned from his professorship in 1801.

Since 1794 he was an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg .
