Gottlieb Leuchtenberger 1891

Gottlieb Leuchtenberger (born December 14, 1839 in Wittenberg ; † May 4, 1914 in Wernigerode ) was a German philologist and high school teacher .

Life

Grown up in Wittenberg, Leuchtenberger studied philosophy and classical philology at Friedrichs-Universität Halle , Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen and Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin . He passed the exam pro facultate docendi on August 9, 1864. He made the probationary year in 1864/65 at the grammar school in Bromberg , where he remained as an assistant teacher and (since New Year 1867) as a full teacher. In 1875 he was appointed high school director to Krotoschin .

Since the new year of the three emperor's year director of the Royal High School in Erfurt , he became a member of the Academy of Non-Profit Science . In the following year he was commissioned at a directors' conference to draw up "a canon of basic pedagogical and didactic rules for candidates and younger teachers". His work was widely recognized and was published in book form in 1909 (2nd edition 1911, 3rd edition 1917) as a vademecum for young teachers .

At Easter 1891 he switched to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium (Posen) as director . Easter 1901 he became director of the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Cologne . Most recently, from Michaelis 1904, he was director of what was then Kaiser-Wilhelm-Realgymnasium in Berlin . Four years later he retired, which he spent in Groß-Lichterfelde and Wernigerode. In Groß-Lichterfelde he wrote The School Director (1911), which he dedicated to the Royal High School in Erfurt for its 350th anniversary .
