Gottlieb Pelargus
Gottlieb Pelargus (also: Biedermann, Storch ; * July 5, 1605 in Frankfurt (Oder) ; † March 30, 1672 ibid) was a German Protestant theologian and rhetorician.
Life
The son of the theologian Christoph Pelargus (1565–1633) and Elisabeth, daughter of the theologian Christoph Albinus and his wife Eva Popp, began studying in 1624 at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) . His teachers were Johannes Magirus , M. David Schanderus , Wolfgang Crell the Younger , Paulus Francke (-1606), and Konrad Berg (1592-1642). Guided by them and supported by his father, he acquired the degree of master's degree in philosophy and became a professor in 1632 at the philosophical faculty, 1635 full professor of rhetoric and 1642 extraordinary professor of theology.
On June 6, 1651, he received his doctorate in theology in Frankfurt , was also a senior in the theological faculty in the 1650s, and was rector of the alma mater in the winter semesters of 1640, 1646, 1652, 1658, 1665 and 1671 . His marriage to Anna Collizia in 1662 remained childless. On April 9, 1672 he was buried in Frankfurt.
