Gottlieb Treuer (born September 4, 1657 in Beeskow , † October 29, 1729 in Wolfenbüttel ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian.

Life

Treuer was a son of the Mayor of Beeskow Gotthilf Treuer. The later poet Gotthilf Treuer (1632–1711) was his brother.

Treuer studied theology in Leipzig . In 1681 he became vice rector in Wriezen . From 1682 to 1687 he was pastor in Jacobsdorf near Frankfurt an der Oder. From 1687 to 1702 he was senior pastor at Heilig Geist in Magdeburg , from 1702 to 1707 preacher at Magdeburg Cathedral . In 1707 Treuer became general superintendent , consistorial councilor, senior superintendent and court preacher in Wolfenbüttel and at the same time abbot of the Riddagshausen monastery .

Treuer had been married to Barbara Sabina († December 6, 1708), a daughter of the preacher Balthasar Lampertus and widow of the Jacobsdorf pastor Höhne, since 1682. The oldest of his total of eight children was the later university professor Gottlieb Samuel Treuer . The second marriage, concluded in 1720 with Agnes Catharina Lohe († August 22, 1740), a daughter of the Wolfenbüttel treasurer Andreas Lohe, remained childless.
