Gottlieb Samuel Treuer
Gottlieb Samuel Treuer (born December 24, 1683 in Jacobsdorf ; † February 25, 1743 in Göttingen ) was a German university professor.
Gottlieb Samuel Treuer was a son of the Jacobsdorf preacher Gottlieb Treuer and his wife Barbara Sabina Lampertus († December 6, 1708). The poet Gotthilf Treuer was a brother of his father.
In 1700 Gottlieb Samuel Treuer went to the University of Leipzig , where he studied world wisdom, theology and law. In 1702 he became a master's degree and in 1707 an assessor in the philosophical faculty. He was appointed professor at the Knight Academy in Wolfenbüttel , where he taught divine scholarship, philosophy and history. In 1713 he made an educational trip to Holland and France. A year later he was appointed professor of morality and politics in Helmstedt . In 1715 he married Sophie Luise Griesebach from Friedland. In 1728, after the death of Polycarp Leyser, he received his professorship for history. In 1731 he received a doctorate in law and was appointed councilor.
In 1734 Treuer went to the newly founded University of Göttingen as a professor of constitutional law, morality and politics. Here he worked until his death and was in the local university church buried.
Treuer was a member of the Berlin Society of Sciences and the German Society of Göttingen .
