Gottlob Friedrich Jenichen (born March 26, 1680 in Eutritzsch , † September 17, 1735 in Leipzig ) was a German Lutheran theologian and historian .

Life

The son of the pastor Georg Jenichen († 1718) had attended the Saxon state school in Schulpforta and the grammar school in Altenburg . In the winter semester of 1695 he moved to the University of Leipzig , became a Baccalaureus on April 17, 1696 and acquired the academic degree of Master of Philosophy on January 26, 1699 . In 1705 he completed a scholarly journey in accordance with the customs of the time, which took him through Germany, Holland and England .

Returned to Leipzig, he became an assessor at the philosophy faculty of the Leipzig University in 1706 . In 1710 he became a member of the small prince's college, in 1712 professor of ethics and politics, and on August 5, 1714, he became a licentiate in theology. In the same year he became a senior of the great college of preachers and was decemvir of the college in 1732 . In the winter semesters 1715 and 1725 he was rector of the alma mater . Jenichen has appeared primarily as a biographer of various personalities.

He was married to Johanna Margaretha geb. Buhle, whose brother was a merchant and trader in Leipzig and owned the Grebehna manor , whose co-lent was Jenichen.

From this marriage the sons Gottlob Friedrich Jenichen (* September 28, 1718) and Theodor Friedrich Jenichen (* September 17, 1723) emerged.
