Goudoumaria is a department in the region of Diffa in Niger .

geography

The department is located in the Manga countryside in the south-east of the country and borders Nigeria . It extends over the territory of the rural community of the same name, Goudoumaria .

history

The department goes back to the administrative post ( poste administratif ) of Goudoumaria, which was established in 1964. In 2011 the administrative post was removed from the Maïné-Soroa department and elevated to the Goudoumaria department.

population

According to the 2012 census, the Goudoumaria department has 100,559 inhabitants. From 2001 to 2012, the population increased by an average of 4.3% annually (nationwide: 3.9%).

At the head of the department is a prefect (French: préfet ) who is appointed by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior .
