Bosso is a department in the region of Diffa in Niger .

geography

The department is located in the southeast of the country in the Manga countryside and borders Nigeria and Chad . It consists of the rural parishes of Bosso and Toumour . The eponymous capital of the department is Bosso.

history

The department goes back to the administrative post ( poste administratif ) of Bosso, which was separated from the Diffa department in 2011 and raised to the Bosso department.

According to the 2012 census, the Bosso department has 76,735 inhabitants. From 2001 to 2012, the population increased by an average of 4.0% annually (nationwide: 3.9%).
