Al-Asima ( Arabic العاصمة, DMG al-ʿĀṣima 'the capital'), also known as al-Kuwait , is one of the six governorates in Kuwait , it consists of the following districts:
- Dahiya Abduallah as-Salam ( Arabic عبدالله السالم)
- Adailiya ( Arabic العديلية)
- Bnied al-Gar ( Arabic بنيد القار)
- Daiya ( Arabic الدعية)
- Dasma ( Arabic الدسمة)

In the Arabic language al-Asima means "the capital". Al-Asima is home to most of the Kuwaiti financial and business centers, such as the Kuwait Stock Exchange .

Nasir Sabah Nasir Mubarak I was the first governor of the governorate from 1962 until his death in 1979. Thereafter, Salim Sabah Nasir Mubarak I held this post. This was followed by Jabir Abdallah Jabir Abdallah II in 1985. The current governor Thabit Al Muhanna has held the post since 2014.
