The Hawalli Governorate ( Arabic محافظة حولي, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Ḥawallī ) is one of the six governorates in Kuwait , it consists of the following areas :

  • Mubarak Al-Kabeer

Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah became the first governor after Kuwait gained independence in 1962 . The current governor is Lt. Gen (ret.) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah .

An estimate from 2005 showed the population of Hawalli with 393,861 inhabitants.

An estimate from December 31, 2007 showed the population with 714,876 inhabitants.

The population was expected to be 890,533 in June 2014.

Sports

The headquarters and the Mohammed Al-Hamad stadium of Qadsia SC are located in the Hawalli district . The Al-Salmiya SC is also based here in the Salmiya district .
