Gozewijn Jan Loncq also: Gozewyn Jan Loncq (born December 10, 1810 in Schiedam , † June 21, 1887 in Utrecht ) was a Dutch physician.

Life

Gozewijn Jan was the son of the court clerk Corneille Jean Loncq (* March 22, 1789 in Leiden † May 17, 1858 in Rotterdam) and Maria Dijkmans (* around 1790; † July 29, 1871 in De Bilt). He had attended grammar school in Rotterdam, where he answered a price question on the subject of de Fermentatione alcoholica from the medical faculty of the University of Groningen. At the age of seventeen he enrolled on September 15, 1828 to study medicine at the University of Leiden . Here he attended the lectures of Eduard Sandifort , Cornelis van der Hoeven , Michael Jacobus Macquelijn and Jacobus Cornelis Broers . On December 16, 1833, he received his doctorate in medicine with the work de physiologia veterum in Leiden .

He then settled as a doctor in Rotterdam, where he eventually became a lecturer in pathology, therapy and practical medicine at the clinical school in Rotterdam. On July 15, 1840 he was appointed professor of medicine at the University of Utrecht . He took on this task on September 23, 1840 with the introductory speech de Fontium medicinae studio historico clinicis excercitationibus juncto optima artis addiscendae via . As a university lecturer in Utrecht, he also took part in the organizational tasks of the university and was rector of the alma mater in 1842/43 and 1862/63 . In this capacity he gave the speech de Mentis animique ad medicinam πϱοπαιδεία, civitatis, artis et scientiae causa publicam institutionem curantibus vehementer commendanda at the resignation of the rector council in 1843 and in 1863 the speech de Patria medicina, cum servandis tum etiam tuendis nec minus amplificandis universitatibus, publici commodi causa et vindicanda et vero perficienda . In 1881 the Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion retired from his professorship and died six years later.

Loncq married on September 30, 1840 in Rotterdam with Anna Adriana Trompert (* 1809 in Rotterdam, † November 3, 1866 in Utrecht), the daughter of Lambertus Gerardus Trompert and Cornelia van den Ende. There are children from this marriage. We know of these:
