Grażyna Szapołowska (born September 19, 1953 in Bydgoszcz ) is a Polish actress .

Life

After graduating from high school, Grażyna Szapołowska made her stage debut with Henryk Tomaszewski at the Pantomimy Theater in Wroclaw . Until 1977 she received her training at the State Drama School PWST in Warsaw , where she was then a member of the ensemble of the National Theater until 1984. After her first small roles in film and television, she fully concentrated on film work. She made two films with the well-known director Krzysztof Kieślowski in the mid-1980s and soon achieved international recognition. Since 1989 she has also appeared as a cabaret artist .

One of her greatest successes so far was the leading female role of Telimena in Andrzej Wajda's historical drama Pan Tadeusz , for which she received the Polish Film Award for Best Actress in 2000 .
