Gražbylė Venclauskaitė (born May 31, 1912 in Riga , Latvia ( Russian Empire ), † February 1, 2017 ) was a Lithuanian lawyer .

Life

Her father was the lawyer Kazimieras Venclauskis (1880-1940) and her mother the actress Stanislava Jakševičiūtė-Venclauskienė (1874-1958). She had a sister, Danutė. Her godfather was the philosopher Vydūnas .

During the First World War she lived in Tula ( Russia ). In 1930 she graduated from the Šiauliai girls' high school and from 1930 to 1934 she studied law at the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas in Kaunas . In 1937 she became a qualified lawyer. From 1934 to 1941 she worked as a judge in the Šiauliai and Joniškis courts . In 1941 she headed the notary department at the Judicial Commissioner in Soviet Lithuania . From 1941 to 1944 she was a lawyer in Žemaičių Naumiestis , from 1944 to 1947 in Kaunas and from 1947 until she retired in 1981 in Šiauliai .
