Funerary crown

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A grave crown was made in the Middle Ages and early modern times for the burial of a ruler .

This crown can be traced back to a not completely secure use by the Salians . It was widespread in many European countries, for example in England , France , Italy , Bohemia , Poland and Hungary . Specimens have also been preserved in Austria and Sweden .

The crowns made from simple materials were later replaced by copies of the ruler's crowns worn during their lifetime. Higher quality material was used here.
