Count Althanns Reneklode
Graf Althanns Reneklode (also Althanns Reneklode ) is a variety of the Reneklode ( Prunus domestica subsp. Rotunda ).
Count Althanns Reneklode was raised between 1850 and 1860 in the Swoyschitz estate in the Kolin district in Bohemia by the gardener J. Procházka as a seedling of the Great Green Reneklode and named after Count Michael Joseph von Althann , the owner of the Swoyschitz / Svojšice estate.
The round, red-violet and frosted fruits, which ripen from mid-August to early September, reach a size of approx. 4.5 cm. The yellow pulp is sweet, tasty and easily separates from the stone. The fruits are either eaten fresh, preserved or cooked into compote .
The self-sterile tree is vigorous with sparse branches and forms wide crowns.
The variety is widespread, mostly grown in home gardens, but is often found directly sold in markets.
