Grammosolen dixonii is a plant type from the genus Grammosolen in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Grammosolen dixonii is a greyish, upright, extensive or spreading shrub with a height of up to 2 m and a diameter of up to 5 m. The branches are woolly hairy. The leaves are ovate-triangular to almost heart-shaped, perched or provided with a petiole up to 3 mm long . They are 6 to 20 mm long and 4 to 17 mm wide, are densely tomentose and have a whole or wavy leaf margin.
The inflorescences consist of one to three flowers , which occasionally form leafy ears . The flower stalks are up to 0.8 mm. The calyx is about 3 mm long and densely tomentose. The crown is 7 to 13 mm long, hairy on the outside and papillary on the inside . The corolla lobes are 3 to 8 mm long and 1.5 to 4 mm wide. The stamens are 2.5 to 5 mm long.
The fruit is an almost spherical capsule that is 3.5 to 4.5 mm long. It contains seeds 2.5 to 3.5 mm in length.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 112.
Distribution and locations
The species is widespread in South Australia and occurs there in the Murray region , the northern Yorke Peninsula and the northeastern Eyre Peninsula . It grows in deep, sandy soils, often in disturbed mallee - spinifex vegetation.
