Grammosolen truncatus is a plant type from the genus Grammosolen in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

Grammosolen truncatus is a grayish, upright shrub up to 2 m high. The twigs are densely tomentose, the hair mainly consists of non-glandular, star-shaped tree-like branched trichomes . The leaves are ovate to ovate-elliptical, occasionally elliptical. They are 5 to 18 mm long and 3 to 11 mm wide, have entire margins and densely tomentose hair. The leaf stalks are 2 to 4 mm long.
The inflorescences consist of one to three flowers and are often in short, leafy groups. The flower stalks are 0.6 mm long and hairless to moderately hairy. The calyx is 2.5 to 4 mm long and densely tomentose, the hair also contains some glandular trichomes. The crown is hairy 7 to 11 mm in length is on the outside and inside papillate . The corolla tube is clearly spread in the upper area. The corolla lobes are 2.5 to 6 mm long and 1.5 to 3 mm wide. The stamens are 2 to 4 mm long.
The fruit is a spherical capsule with a diameter of 4 to 4.5 mm. It contains seeds about 2.8 mm long.
Distribution and locations
The species occurs in South Australia and extends there from the western Gawler Ranges over the Eyre Peninsula , in the northwest to the Gairdner-Torrens-Basins and the Nullarbor -Region up to the 130th degree of longitude. It grows in deep sand, mostly in sand channels of Mallees , often in disturbed locations together with prickly head grasses ( Triodia ).
