Gran Tarajal is a place on the to Spain belonging Canary Island Fuerteventura . It is located in the south of the island and is subordinate to the municipality of Tuineje . Gran Tarajal is with 7323 inhabitants (January 1, 2011) after Puerto del Rosario and Corralejo the third largest town on the island.

In Gran Tarajal there is no mass tourism like in Morro Jable or Corralejo , but the place still has a beach with dark sand and a beach promenade with a few shops. The residents mostly work in the neighboring tourist centers or are active in agriculture (e.g. tomato cultivation) and fishing. There is also an arena for Canarian wrestling in the village .

The port of Gran Tarajal used to be important. From here, in addition to the places on the Jandía peninsula , the places in the hinterland in the Gran Tarajal valley were also supplied. The area is characterized by 200 to 600 meter high mountains made of red lava rock .

Passing Gran Tarajal, the FV-2 expressway leads from Puerto del Rosario to Morro Jable. The city itself is accessed by the FV-4. The FV-20 leads into the hinterland via Tuineje to Antigua .
