The Grand Prix de Bruxelles (German: Grand Prix of Brussels ) was an automobile racing event that was held five times in the Belgian capital after the Second World War . Alternative names were Grand Prix de Vitesse de Bruxelles and Grand Prix Automobile de Bruxelles .

history

The Brussels Grand Prix has been advertised for different motor sport classes over the years, including Formula 1 in 1961 and 1962 . The Formula 1 races did not have world championship status . The racetracks were changing temporary courses in the wider city of Brussels, some of which were public roads. This included the multi-lane Avenue Leopold III in Schaerbeek . The world exhibition site at Heyselpark was included in the route three times .

The counting of the races is inconsistent. A sports car race that took place on June 16, 1946 is sometimes referred to as the first Brussels Grand Prix; according to other sources, this race was an edition of the Belgian Grand Prix for automobiles .

Not all of the Brussels Grand Prix took place as planned. The races advertised for Formula 3 in 1951 and 1963 were canceled at short notice.
