Gravity Kills is an American industrial rock - band , which has its roots in St. Louis has, MO (USA).

Band history

The band was founded in 1994 as a quartet by singer Jeff Scheel, keyboardist Doug Firley, guitarist Matt Dudenhoeffer and drummer Kurt Kerns.

The first song Guilty (broadcast as a demo recording to the regional radio station KPNT in St. Louis) quickly became a success on local radio stations, after which the band signed a contract with the New York label TVT Records. The piece was also part of the soundtrack for the thriller Se7en with Brad Pitt . More songs by the band can be found among others. a. on the soundtracks to the films Mortal Kombat , Escape from LA and Kissing a Fool - Two Men, a Woman and a Wedding.

In 1996 the band's first album was released, which was named after the band Gravity Kills . The choice fell on Guilty for the first single release and the success that was achieved on local radio could continue nationwide. From the first album were released as further singles Enough , Down and Blame .

The second album Perversion was released in June 1998, this album differed stylistically from the first. Falling and Alive were intended as single releases for perversion .

The band's albums were also released worldwide, and she contributed the soundtrack to the video game Test Drive Off-Road .

Drummer Kurt Kerns left the band in August 1999 to pursue other tasks. At this point the band ended their contract with TVT Records and signed with Sanctuary Records.

Their first album there, and also the first album since Kern's exit, was released in March 2002 and was called Superstarved , with One Thing , Love, Sex and Money and Personal Jesus as single releases. The band broke up after the superstarved tour.

In October 2005, the band came together for a reunion concert in St. Louis with the original line-up.

On October 20, 2009, the band announced on their then official MySpace profile that they were reuniting and that they were working on new material. To date, however, only the song Beg And Borrow has been released as a piano version on SoundCloud .
