Greater Noida ( Hindi : ग्रेटर नोएडा Greṭar Noeḍā ) is a satellite city in the Indian metropolis of Delhi with around 108,000 inhabitants (2011 census). It was built in the 1990s as an extension of the city of Noida .

Greater Noida is located around 40 kilometers southeast of the city center of Delhi and 15 kilometers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is the administrative seat of the Gautam Buddha Nagar District . Greater Noida is part of the National Capital Region (NCT), the Delhi metropolitan area .

Greater Noida is the end point of the Yamuna Expressway , a six-lane expressway that was completed in 2011 and runs from Agra towards Delhi. The nearest train station is in Boraki eight kilometers northeast. In the medium term, the Delhi Metro line to Noida is to be extended to Greater Noida. At times, the Uttar Pradesh government planned to build an international airport in Greater Noida, but the project was abandoned in 2012 because the airport was too close to the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport . Between 2011 and 2013 , the Indian Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship took place on the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida .
