Greenleaf is a Swedish stoner rock - band from Borlänge , which was founded in the 1999th It is a side project of various Swedish rock musicians .

history

The band was founded in 1999 by guitarist Tommi Holappa, drummer Daniel Lidén and bassist Bengt Bäcke and released an EP named after the band in 2000. The group consisted of the bassist Bengt Bäcke, the drummer Daniel Lidén, the guitarist Tommi Holappa and the singer Peder Bergstrand. The debut album Revolution Rock followed , on which Fredrik Nordin could be heard as the new singer. After a long break, in which the band members could devote themselves to other projects, the group signed a contract with Small Stone Records , where in 2003 the second album Secret Alphabets was released. Daniel Jansson was then involved as the second guitarist. Before the 2007 album Agents of Ahriman , the line-up changed significantly, so that the band now consisted of drummer Erik Bäckwall, bassist Bengt Bäcke, guitarist Tommi Holappa, keyboardist Jocke Ahslund and singer Oskar Cedermalm. On the album Nest of Vipers , the line-up was again slightly changed: the group now consisted of guitarists Holappa and Johan Rockner, bassist Bäcke, singer Cedermalm and drummer Olle Mårthans. The album featured guest musicians Per Wiberg ( Spiritual Beggars , formerly Opeth ) and former dozer front man Fredrik Nordin.

style

The band plays Stoner Rock, which is less based on Kyuss and more on artists like Spiritual Beggars and Queens of the Stone Age . The songs also have progressive features. Since Nest of Vipers featured a large number of Dozer members, the sound of the instruments is compared to that on Dozer's album Beyond Colossal . In addition, influences from the blues are processed. The use of a fuzzbox is characteristic of the electric guitars .
