Gregor Koebel

Gregor Koebel (born June 24, 1947 in Munich ) is a German diplomat who was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Brunei from 1988 to 1990 and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Nicaragua from 2004 to 2008 .

Life

Gregor Koebel attended the (hum.) Wittelsbacher-Gymnasium in Munich, where he passed the Abitur in 1966; between 1968 and 1973 he studied law and trained as an interpreter.

After joining the Foreign Service in 1977 and completing the career examination for the higher service in 1982, he was employed as a consul at the Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro . From 1982 to 1985 he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Mozambique . In 1986 he became Counselor at the Permanent Mission to the OECD in Paris .

From 1988 to 1990 Gregor Koebel was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Brunei . This was followed by a use in the Foreign Office in Bonn. Between 1993 and 1996 he was Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Szczecin . This was followed by a further assignment in the Foreign Office in Bonn and Berlin until 2002, while Klaus Ranner was his successor as Consul General in Stettin.

Koebel was then envoy and permanent representative of the ambassador to Mexico from 2002 to July 2004 and then from July 2004 to July 2008 ambassador to Nicaragua . He was succeeded in this office in 2008 by Betina Kern , who was previously head of the department for the Andean countries in the Federal Foreign Office.
