Gregor Maria Hoff

Gregor Maria Hoff (born January 29, 1964 in Mönchengladbach ) is professor of fundamental theology and ecumenical theology at the Paris-Lodron University in Salzburg .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1983 at the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium Viersen-Dülken , Hoff studied classical philology , Catholic theology , philosophy and German in Bonn and Frankfurt am Main . From 1994 to 1996 he completed his legal clerkship for secondary levels I and II in the subjects of Catholic religion and German, and in 1995 he received his doctorate in theology. In 1999 he qualified as a private lecturer for fundamental theology and philosophy of religion at the University of Bonn.

From 1999 to 2003 Hoff taught at the Marienschule Krefeld , an Ursuline grammar school. After teaching positions in Vallendar , Aachen and Cologne , he became a university professor for fundamental theology and ecumenical theology in Salzburg in 2003 . Since 2009, Hoff has been Vice-President of the Katholisches Hochschulwerk (Salzburg), Deputy Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the Görres Society  and Director of the Cardinal König Institute of the European Academy of Sciences (Salzburg). From 2005 to 2015 he was also chairman of the Salzburg University Weeks . He has been a freelance writer for ZEIT since November 2015 .  

He is married and has two children.

Memberships

Hoff is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Adalbert Foundation . He is also a member of the Faith Commission and the sub-commission for religious relations with Judaism at the German Bishops' Conference . On February 20, 2014, he was appointed as the successor to Hans Hermann Henrix as consultor in the papal commission for relations with Judaism .
