Gregorio Martínez Sacristán (born December 19, 1946 in Villarejo de Salvanés , Spain ; † September 20, 2019 ) was a Spanish clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Zamora .

Life

Gregorio Martínez Sacristán received the sacrament of ordination on May 20, 1971 after completing his philosophical and theological training at the seminary in Madrid . Between 1974 and 1976 he studied theology with a specialization in catechetics at the Institut Catholique de Paris . He then worked in pastoral care in various Madrid parishes. He was director of the Instituto de Teología a distancia in Madrid, diocesan delegate for catechesis and professor of catechetics.

On December 15, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the bishop of Zamora. The Archbishop of Madrid , Antonio María Cardinal Rouco Varela , donated him episcopal ordination on February 4, 2007 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Toledo , Antonio Cardinal Cañizares Llovera , and the Archbishop of Valladolid , Braulio Rodríguez Plaza .

For many years he was president of the Real Cofradía de Caballeros Cubicularios de Zamora ; In 2016 he established the canonical brotherhood of the Cofradía de la Virgen de la Saleta .
