Gregorios Elias Tabé

Gregorios Elias Tabé (born March 18, 1941 in Mardin , Turkey ) is a Syrian Catholic clergyman and retired Archbishop of Damascus .

Life

Gregorios Elias Tabé received on 4 May 1969, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On June 24, 1995 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Batnae dei Siri and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in the Syrian Catholic archeparchy Damascus. The Syrian Catholic Patriarch of Antioch , Ignatius Antoine II. Hayek , donated him episcopal ordination on January 7, 1996 ; Co -consecrators were the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Damascus, Eustathe Joseph Mounayer , and the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Aleppo, Denys Raboula Antoine Beylouni . On May 25, 1996 Gregorios Elias Tabé opted for the titular bishopric of Mardin dei Siri . In 1997 Tabé was appointed Curia Bishop in the Syrian Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch. On May 8, 1999, John Paul II appointed him coadjutor archbishop of the Syrian Catholic Archeparchy Damascus. Gregorios Elias Tabé became Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Damascus on June 24, 2001, succeeding Eustathe Joseph Mounayer, who resigned for reasons of age.

On June 22, 2019, he resigned as Archbishop of Damascus due to old age.
