Grete Paia (born August 27, 1995 in Kuressaare ) is an Estonian singer .

Life

Paia was born on the island of Saaremaa , where she attended the Kuressaare Gümnaasium. She has been singing professionally since 2011.

Career

For the first time nationally known it was in 2013, when she 17 years at Eesti Laul took part, the Estonian preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest in this year . She got the most calls in the first semi-final for her song Päästke noored hinged ( Dt. Save the young souls ), written by Sven Lõhmus , but only came third due to a poor jury rating , which was enough to make it to the final. There it again achieved the most votes by a large margin, but was again fobbed off by the jury with fifth place out of ten. Nevertheless, together with Kõrsikud and Winny Puhh , she achieved a shared second place behind Birgit Õigemeel , which meant that she made it to the superfinal due to the optimal audience voting . There she got only 48.89% of the vote and came in second. In 2016 she dared a second attempt for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 , where she competed with her song Stories Untold ( ee. Rääkimata lood / dt. Untold stories ), again composed and written by Sven Lõhmus . The second semi-final took place on February 20th. There she had to compete against Põhja-Tallinn , among others . She reached the final as one of five. On March 5th, however, she was only eighth there. Paia is under contract with the Estonian record company Moonwalk Records . There she released her album Armageddon in late 2013 .
