Greylock Partners is one of the oldest venture capital firms, founded in 1965, with over $ 2 billion in committed capital. The company focuses on startups in the consumer, enterprise software and infrastructure, and semiconductor sectors.

Today Greylock has offices in the Bay Area , Cambridge , Israel and India .

Greylock was founded in 1965 by Bill Elfers and Dan Gregory, shortly afterwards Charlie Waite joined. Bill and Charlie both worked at American Research and Development Corporation , one of the nation's first venture capital firms, while Dan was an investment manager at John P. Chase. The original capital ($ 9 million total) came from a group of six prominent families, all of whom are still investors in Greylock. Over the next 43 years, Greylock has achieved a number of partnerships, with current committed capital of more than $ 2 billion, and has helped build over 300 startups.

Greylock Partners was founded in a series of thirteen limited partnerships , beginning in 1965. In the following years until 2009, more partners were added. On November 2, 2009, Greylock announced that they had hired Reid Hoffman , LinkedIn co-founder, as a partner. Greylock launched Greylock Israel, a separate fund for Israel, in 2006. Tied capital for the Greylock partnerships generated more than $ 2 billion.
