The Greek Dost ( Origanum scabrum ) is a species of the genus Dost ( Origanum ) in the mint family (Lamiaceae).
features
The Greek Dost is a perennial plant with a rhizome that reaches heights of 15 to 45 centimeters. The upper lip of the calyx is threefold. The leaves are glabrous and ovate to almost circular. The bracts are purple and 8 to 10 millimeters long.
Flowering time is July and August.
Occurrence
The Greek Dost occurs in southern Greece in crevices and on block fields at altitudes of 1000 to 1900 meters.

The Greek dost is rarely used as an ornamental plant in rock gardens and alpine houses . In culture, the subspecies Origanum scabrum subsp. pulchrum . Some hybrids with Origanum rotundifolium are known and possibly also with Origanum amanum .
