Grimmia longirostris ( syn. : Grimmia affinis ) is a moss - kind from the family Grimmiaceae .

features

Grimmia longirostris forms dense, often round, yellow-green to dark-olive-green cushions that shimmer gray through the glass hair. The upright stems are up to 2.5 centimeters high. The trunk cross-section shows a clear central strand. The dry, moist, upright protruding leaves are lanceolate and pointed with an ovoid base and V-shaped in cross-section in the upper half. The rib, which is strong in the lower leaf section, becomes weaker and indistinct upwards. Usually the leaf margin is only bent back on one side in the middle of the leaf. The upper stem leaves have weakly toothed glass hair that can be up to 1.5 millimeters long.

The lamina is single-layered in the lower part, then partly two-celled and is consistently two-celled in the upper third. The lamina cells are elongated on the base of the leaf near the ribs, rectangular to linear, shorter to square towards the edges and often hyaline in a few rows at the edge; In the upper part of the leaf, the cells are short-rectangular to mostly rounded-square.

The autocratic (antheridia and archegonia on different branches on the same plant) usually always fruit. The seta is about 3 millimeters long and upright when moist, the spore capsule, which is also upright with a purple peristome, is ovoid to cylindrical, brown, smooth and narrow-mouthed, the calyptra lobed cap-shaped. The spores are 9 to 12 µm in size; Spore ripening time is in autumn.
