The Plauer degree rarely Plauermaß, was a standardized Binnenschiffmaß . The Plauer measure was specified around 1886 especially for sections of the Plauer Canal , which later became the Elbe-Havel Canal , when its locks were renewed. The ships were called Plauer Maßkähne . A few years later they switched to the Groß-Plauer measure . The barges were adapted to the conditions of the waterways such as lock dimensions and curve radii. They were 65 meters long and 8 meters wide. The draft rarely reached 2 meters and her deadweight 650 tons. The dimensions may vary, as they have occasionally been raised to increase the load capacity. This resulted in the Groß-Plauer custom barge with a length of 67 meters and a width of 8.20 meters. The draft reached a maximum of 2.20 meters and the deadweight about 800 tons.
