In the period after the Second World War, a large part of the units destroyed or damaged in the war had to be replaced in German inland navigation . The ships, which measure 57 meters in length, 7.04 meters in width and 2.00 meters in draft, are based on the dimensions of the old East Prussian dimension, have a load capacity of around 496 tons (with a 2.30 meters draft up to 605 tons) . The drive power was around 300 hp. Naming

The type of ship is named after Karl Vortisch. He was a founding member of the Transport Cooperative in Berlin and worked on the Versailles Treaty .
