Large container ship
The large container ship class is a new generation of ships introduced in inland navigation in 1998 . These ships are up to 135 meters long and 17.5 meters wide and are mainly designed for container transport. The first ship was the Jowi .
Technical specifications
The ship is double-hulled and has two apartments, fore and aft. The sister ships Jowi and Amistade have an apartment on two decks aft. The apartments and the wheelhouse are fully air-conditioned. A fire extinguishing system is installed in the engine room. The hold is equipped with connections for 60 refrigerated containers and guide rails, so-called cell guides .
Jowi-class ships are also built as tankers and bulk carriers . The propulsion usually takes place with two propellers , sometimes with three. Your sailing area is the Rhine to Basel . However, there is a driving ban for ships over 110 meters in length in the descent between Lorch and Sankt Goar at the Kaub gauge of less than 0.85 m and higher than 4.60 m.
Example of the MCS Bolero , built in 2003: The hull was built in Nantong ( China ) and the ship was completed at the Dutch shipyard De Gerlien van Tiem in Druten .
