The Große Homburg is located in the Holzminden district above or north of Stadtoldendorf and a few kilometers south of Eschershausen .
The ruins of the Homburg are located on the summit of the Great Homburg , from whose castle tower you can enjoy the view - for example, towards the south to Solling , where the Great Pale is the highest mountain in the Weser Uplands. On the western slope of the Great Homburg there are quarries where gypsum has been mined for centuries .
