Way of life

The Great Obstbaumsplintkäfer is mainly to pears ( Pyrus ) and Prunus species, but also on haws ( Sorbus ), hawthorns ( Crataegus ), cotoneaster ( Cotoneaster ), hornbeam ( Carpinus ) and less likely to elm ( Ulmus ) and hazel ( Corylus ) -Types before. It colonizes the bark of the trees. The feeding pattern is a one-armed mother duct (longitudinal duct) from which the larval ducts branch off to the side.
