features

Great Scheidling

The large Scheidling forms medium-sized fruiting bodies divided into a hat and stem. The hat reaches a width of 50 to 120 millimeters. At first it is egg-shaped and bell-shaped and later spread out, often it is hunched flat. Its surface is sticky and smooth, it is pure white, only sometimes a little brownish in the middle. The ringless stem is white and cylindrical and measures 80 to 200 × 5 to 20 millimeters. It turns light brown or gray at pressure points. Often the base of the stem is somewhat thickened. The membranous volva is white, sometimes turns gray with age and is often buried deep in the ground; in young mushrooms it envelops the entire fruiting body. The lamellae are white when young and are colored pink by the pink spore powder in older specimens. The spores are broadly ellipsoidal and measure 11 to 18 × 8 to 10 micrometers.

ecology

The Große Scheidling is a saprobiontic soil dweller. Its original biotope in Central Europe is likely to be alluvial and swamp forests , shady slopes and nitrogen-rich beech forests. As a nitrophilic, ruderal species, it was able to colonize an abundance of anthropogenic biotopes such as potato, beet, corn and grain fields, vegetable and flower fields, fat meadows, pastures, gardens and parks and is also closed at roadsides, wood and manure storage areas and similar places find, it also occurs in greenhouses. It colonizes rotting dung, dung, rotting straw and reeds, bark mulch, sawdust and similar substrates. He is somewhat thermally bound. In Central Europe, the fruiting bodies appear from late May to early November.

distribution

The large scabbard is a species of fungus that is widespread in the tropics and the Holarctic and occurs in the Holarctic in the Mediterranean to temperate regions; it was found in Japan, Hawaii, the USA, the Canary Islands and North Africa. In Europe its distribution area extends from southwest Europe to Russia, in the north it occurs sporadically in Sweden and Finland as far as the boreal and subarctic zones. In Germany, the species is widespread in the entire area, but shows an irregular occurrence with compression and thinning zones.

meaning
