The power station Franconia II was a coal-fired power plant of large power station Franken AG west of Erlangen - Kriegenbrunn the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal .

The power plant went into operation in 1967. A pull-out track , which branches off the former Erlangen-Bruck-Herzogenaurach railway line , was first used to supply the huge amounts of fuel for generating electricity from coal . From 1970, for cost reasons, the cargo was handled directly from the ship to the works via the Frauenaurach site .

After the large Franken power plant was absorbed by E.ON Bayern AG in 2001 , Franken II was shut down and has now been completely dismantled. In 2002 the 202 meter high chimney and in August 2005 the former boiler house was blown up.

The Franken II power station had an output of 400 megawatts.

A total of 37 rehearsal rooms were set up in the former administration building in cooperation with the Nuremberg Music Center , the City of Erlangen and the E-Werk Erlangen cultural center . The premises are located on the second and third floors and are partially subsidized by the city of Erlangen's cultural funding in order to give young and ambitious bands a helping hand.
