Braunschweig region
The Braunschweig region is the name given to the greater Braunschweig area, consisting of the independent cities of Braunschweig , Salzgitter and Wolfsburg as well as the districts of Gifhorn , Goslar , Helmstedt , Peine and Wolfenbüttel , which work together in various areas, levels and fields of activity . The regional association of Greater Braunschweig , which is based in the city of Braunschweig, is responsible for coordinating and planning the region .
The Braunschweig region is part of the Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen-Wolfsburg metropolitan region and covers south-east Lower Saxony. In contrast to the Braunschweiger Land , which is historically shaped and only covers parts of the region, the region is based on today's modern administrative structure. Many organizations that originally focused on the Braunschweig region are now active throughout the region.
