The megalithic graves near Nustrow are three megalithic tombs of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Nustrow in the Rostock district ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). Graves 1 and 2 bear the Sprockhoff numbers 364 and 365. They were archaeologically examined in 1970 under the direction of Ewald Schuldt .

location

Graves 1 and 2 are located in a forest northeast of Nustrow, just before the parish boundary to Grammow . They are only 80 m apart and cannot be reached directly via a path. The exact location of grave 3 has not been published. 300–700 m north are the megalithic graves near Alt Stassow , 2.9 km north-northeast the megalithic grave Schabow , 3.4 km northwest the megalithic graves near Liepen .

Research history

Graves 1 and 2 were first recorded on April 6, 1933 by Ernst Sprockhoff for his atlas of megalithic tombs of Germany . In November and December 1970 they were excavated by Ewald Schuldt together with the four large stone graves near Alt Stassow .

description

Grave 1

Grave 1 has a north-west-south-east oriented burial chamber, originally encased by a hill . Four wall stones have been preserved on the north-eastern long side, three of them in situ ; the second from the southeast fell over. On the southwest long side, three stones have been preserved in situ, the southernmost one is missing. The two capping stones are also there, but both are out of their original position. During Sprockhoff's investigation in 1933, the southeast stone was still in situ. Of the four capstones, three have sunk into the interior of the chamber, the fourth is blown up outside the chamber. According to Ewald Schuldt, the chamber has a length of 7 m and a width of 1.6 m. Sprockhoff did not assign the grave to a specific type because of its poor state of preservation. Schuldt classified it as a passage grave , but only because the end stones took up the entire width of the narrow sides. A walk on one of the long sides could not be directly detected. Burials and grave goods could no longer be found.

Grave 2

Grave 2 originally had a heap of sandy soil interspersed with pebbles . There are still three stones from an east-west oriented burial chamber: a wall stone on the northern long side, the western end stone placed approximately at right angles to this, and a cap stone still half resting on the wall stone. The capstone is 2 m long, 1.4 m wide, 0.6 m thick and has 25 bowls on its upper side . A threshold stone could be detected on the southern half of the eastern narrow side. The chamber originally consisted of two yokes and can therefore be addressed as an extended dolmen . The interior of the chamber is largely disturbed by a layer of fire from the Slavic era. Schuldt discovered fragments of the late Slavic Teterower group (10th - 12th / 13th centuries). The original pavement had been completely removed, and nothing was found of the burials or original grave goods. The chamber has a length of 2.4 m, a width of 1.2 m and a height of 1.6 m.

Grave 3

Grave 3 is a large dolmen originally encased by a rolling stone hill . Information on alignment and dimensions are not available.
