description

Grave 1

Drawing of grave 1 after Schlie

Grave 1 has an east-west oriented [burial chamber], which is a passage grave . There were originally five wall stones on each of the long sides. Four are still preserved in the north; the two western ones are in situ , the following two have been displaced, the eastern one is missing. On the south side, the two eastern wall stones are in situ, the two western ones seem to have been displaced, the middle one is missing or is completely in the ground. The two closing stones on the narrow sides are still preserved. The eastern one has been blown up, but is still in situ. The western one is inclined outwards. All five capstones are preserved, but none in their original position. The eastern capstone has been blown up; the second from the west has sunk inside the chamber and is now deep in the ground. The chamber has a length of 7 m and a width of 1.8 m. A corridor could not be determined. Ernst Sprockhoff therefore suspected that the grave should be addressed as a large dolmen , but Ewald Schuldt and, following him, Hans-Jürgen Beier classified it as a passage grave .

Grave 2

Drawing of grave 2 after Schlie

Grave 2 has an east-west oriented rectangular barren bed . Only three stones remain of the enclosure at the western end of the northern long side and one of the western narrow side. The original dimensions of the giant bed can therefore no longer be determined. At the west end of the bed is the also east-west oriented burial chamber, which, according to Schuldt, is a passage grave as in Appendix 1. On the northern long side, all four wall stones are still preserved in situ. On the south side, the two eastern stones are in situ, the rest are missing. The eastern end stone is in situ, the western one is dragged outside the chamber. Of the original four capstones, three have sunk into the interior of the chamber, the second from the west has not been preserved. The chamber has a length of 5 m and a width of 1.7 m. A corridor cannot be determined.
