The Großdolmen von Menzlin is located in a group of trees near the intersection of the Konsages road with the L263 between Groß Polzin in the west and Menzlin in the east, northwest of Anklam in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The large dolmen is a type of megalithic complex that occurs within the Nordic megalithic architecture , primarily in the east of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, with two different types of access ; but also in Poland ( megalithic complex of Złotowo ) and Denmark in a structurally somewhat different form ( Danish Stordysse ).

Scheme large dolmen

The large dolmen of Menzlin bears the Sprockhoff number. 558, originated in the Neolithic between 3500 and 2800 BC. And is a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK).

The four remaining capstones of the large dolmen (formerly five) have sunk or blown into the chamber. An excavation has not been carried out, so that no statements can be made about more precise dimensions etc.

On the other side of the street are the large stone graves at Klein Polzin .
