Oebles-Schlechtewitz large stone grave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Oebles-Schlechtewitz was a Neolithic megalithic grave complex near Oebles-Schlechtewitz , a district of Bad Dürrenberg in the Saalekreis , Saxony-Anhalt . The complex was archaeologically examined by Friedrich Klopfleisch in 1878 , but he did not publish a report, and it was later completely destroyed.

location

The grave was on the Fuchsberg near Oebles-Schlechtewitz on level ground.

description

The plant had a mound with a diameter of 6 m and a height of 1.5 m. This contained a sunk, east-west oriented burial chamber with a length of 3.7 m, a width of 2.26 m and a height of 1.5. The walls of the chamber were made of rubble stones. It had a stone pavement and was covered with two large stone slabs. The exact type of grave cannot be determined with certainty. Hans-Jürgen Beier suspects a sunken chamber grave , a pseudomegalithic wall chamber grave or a synthesis of both.

The remains of a single human skeleton covered with a wooden structure were found in the chamber. A stone packing with a layer of ash underneath was discovered in the mound above the burial chamber . The chronological relationship between the two findings is unclear, especially since no additions were found in the entire grave. The architecture suggests a connection to the late Neolithic Walternienburg or Bernburg culture .
