Large stone grave pile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Stapel was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic deep engraving ceramic culture near the district of Stapel in the district of Stendal , Saxony-Anhalt, belonging to the Altmärkische Höhe . It was first mentioned in 1579 by Christoph Entzelt in his Altmärkische Chronik and in 1751 by Johann Christoph and Bernhard Ludwig Bekmann in their historical description of the Chur and Mark Brandenburg . Accordingly, it had a circular enclosure. Individual stones seemed to have already been moved. The tomb was destroyed in the late 18th or early 19th century. Johann Friedrich Danneil could no longer locate the grave in the 1840s. Even Eduard Krause and Otto Schoetensack could in entering the Altmark megalithic tombs in the 1890s no longer scraps make up. According to Paul Kupka , the grave was located at the point where the shard of a bowl of deep-engraving ceramic culture was discovered at the beginning of the 20th century.
