Groove Armada
The Groove Armada is a disco , funk and house group from Cambridge , England , which was founded in the mid-1990s. The band essentially consists of the two "masterminds" Andy Cato and Tom Findlay as well as changing studio musicians. But also the results of guest appearances by various pop stars, such as B. Neneh Cherry , can be found on their records.
Band history
When Tom Findlay and Andy Cato met in 1994, they both recognized their musical preferences for funk, jazz, disco and house. In 1999 the party album Vertigo was released . In 2001 their third album came out, which is called Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub). With this they hoped for a somewhat greater success, which only followed with their next album Lovebox (2002). The album Soundboy Rock (2007) expanded her musical horizons with hip hop, reggae and pop. So they did not try to stick to a certain style of music.
Her best-known title is the international hit I See You Baby from 2000, which was also remixed by Fatboy Slim and used in a Renault Mégane advertisement. They also created the theme from the " Sex and the City " credits as well as several remixes of strange songs.
The song Hands of Time from the album Lovebox was used in the movie "Collateral" with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. The song can also be found on the corresponding soundtrack for the film.
In the summer of 2007, the single Song 4 Mutya came out in collaboration with former Sugababes member Mutya Buena .
In 2018 the album Graceland by Paul Simon was re-released as a remix album with the help of Groove Armada . The record "Graceland: The Remixes" hit the US dance charts . The project was initiated with the consent of Paul Simon and distributed via Paul Simon's official YouTube account.
