The Adolph-Helene mine, also called Adolf-Helene, is a disused ore mine in the Altlayer Bachtal north of Altlay in the Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate .

description

To 1959 was in Altlay in the pit Adolph-Helene by the union Barbara blessing among other things, lead - zinc - silver - and copper ore mined . It is estimated that a total of 384,000  tons of raw ore were mined. There was also a small railway from the mine to Zell for shipping the mined ores.

In 1957, the Adolph-Helene mine was leased to Stolberger Zink , which, however, ceased operations two years later. A sharp drop in the price of ores made it unprofitable. Although the prices later rose again, the recommissioning of the disused mine was not worthwhile.

Today only the remains of the former industrial facilities are visible. The headframe was dismantled in the 1960s, the remaining buildings are left to decay.
