The Copernicus mine was a non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Cologne in the Cologne-Rath / Heumar district . The Copernicus mining field extended in the Königsforst in a high forest near the Rennweg.

history

On October 2, 1857, Gustav Roetzel made a request for encouragement under the name Sultan. Two further assumptions for the pit fields Sultan II and Sultan III date from October 24, 1857. In the field inspection on April 12, 1858, the building worthiness could not be proven. After further prospecting , Roetzel submitted a new request for encouragement on September 12, 1859. According to a new field inspection on 27 October 1860, took place ceremony on lead and - zinc ores under the new name Copernicus.
