The Georgine mine is a disused mine for the extraction of iron ore (iron stone) in Hagen .

First soil surveys

The mining of the Red Deer is older. In 1858 a mutation was introduced under the name Friederika . A six foot thick seam-like deposit was excavated . The intercalated mass consisted almost entirely of brown iron stone kidneys 2-3 inches in size with a high iron content.

The mining area was on 20 August 1859 the factory owner Caspar Diedrich Butz to top Bredenscheid awarded . His relatives Heinrich and Ludwig Butz as well as Peter Faust and Friedrich Aelheit formed a mining union with him . A first adit was created to examine the deposit for thickness. Here one was transitional open-minded, of up to 8 m was powerful and m 15 Underlining was being followed. Regular mining operations

In 1905 the mine was put back into operation. The Georgine union operated the Georgine iron stone and manganese ore mine of the same name . Roteisenstein and pure manganese ore of good quality were now brought to light . The workforce consists of two men who extract 50 tons.

In 1906 two soles were tackled. To this end, the workforce was increased by four to six workers. The union had been increased to 1000 Kuxe and was then merged with the Ernestine union. Kuxe were then put up for sale in order to raise capital.

In 1907, 63 tons were extracted with six workers, and 80 tons in the following year with five workers. But in 1913 the rightful property was foreclosed. The company ended in 1935. Today there are 4 barred tunnel mouth holes on site .
