Gruenrekorder is a German label for field recording , soundscapes and sound art .

It was founded in 2003 by the sound artists Lasse-Marc Riek and Roland Etzin in Frankfurt am Main .

The publications mostly appear on CD and vinyl , but also on tape and digital editions ( USB card, WAV / MP3 / FLAC ).

Although the focus is on field recordings and soundscapes, the label's spectrum ranges from compilations and crossover projects to publications in the new music genre .

In addition to sales, the ongoing occupation with the topics of phonography , acoustic ecology and environmental protection is another focus of the label work.

The operators act as artists and activists in an international network and work regularly with associations, organizations, scientists, authors, artists and guest curators in various contexts.

Riek and Etzin are also founding members of the Frankfurt “Association for the Promotion of Phonography and Experimental Music”. V. “, which organizes a series of concerts at the Institute for New Media .

The bilingual online specialist magazine “Field Notes” (German / English) appears at irregular intervals. It contains essays, interviews and other texts that deal with the subject of noise from a scientific, philosophical and ecological perspective.
