Ernst Grundemann-Falkenberg

Ernst Grundemann-Falkenberg (born August 1, 1903 in Reichenthal ; † September 19, 1987 there ; until 1919 Graf Grundemann von Falkenberg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) as well as a farmer and forester. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1949 to 1962 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1962 to 1970 .

Life

After elementary school, Grundemann-Falkenberg attended a class at a grammar school and then switched to a military lower secondary school for three years. He graduated from the marine academy and a private secondary school, whereupon he passed the Matura. Grundemann-Falkenberg completed agricultural and forestry internships in Austria and Germany and in 1923 took over the Waldenfels farm in Reichenthal.

From 1929 on, Grundemann-Falkenberg became politically active as a councilor for the Christian Social Party in Reichenthal and in the Heimwehr . After the National Socialists came to power, he was banned from this area. After the Second World War he was mayor of Reichenthal from 1946 to 1967. He was also 1950-1968 chairman of the Upper Austrian Association of Municipalities and 1957-1970 Federal chairman of the Austrian Association of Municipalities . He was also a member of the Council of Europe's Municipal Commission and was a presidential member of the Council of European Municipalities. Grundemann-Falkenberg also held the position of deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Kühlhaus AG, was section chairman of the forestry section in the Upper Austrian farmers 'association , chairman of the employers' association of Upper Austria's estates and deputy president of the forest and landowners association. He represented the ÖVP between November 5, 1949 and December 3, 1962 and held the function of Chairman of the Federal Council from July 1, 1952 to December 31, 1952. After that he was a member of the National Council from December 14, 1962 to March 31, 1970.
